Have just been watching some very old programmes of the famous trio of Ronnie Barker, David Jason, and Lynda Baron in ‘Open All Hours’.
What a wonderful range of characters, tremendous scripts, good-natured banter, the little innuendoes, and the feeling that you would just like to see one more episode.
First broadcast in 1981, they have stood the test of time, and are in the same format as Fawlty Towers, Butterflies, Hancock’s Half Hour (somewhat earlier), Last of the Summer Wine….the list can go on and on…..
Come on, scriptwriters, take a leaf from your predecessors, and get us laughing again. Humour is one of the things that makes me happy to be alive.
Let’s hope we are allowed to have a guffaw in heaven!
